International day for the Elimination of Racism

March 21st is International day for the Elimination of Racism. Proclaiming the Day in 1966, the United Nations General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination.
On March 21st 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid "pass laws".

This was the initial event behind the creation of the International day for the Elimination of Racism

Although in its 42nd year, a recent casual survey of friends online showed a lack of awareness for this event. So we created t-shirts and gifts with our own take on the day and hopefully spread the message about this important event!

The Canadian government however are making an extra effort this year, based around International Day for the Elimination of Racism and I suggest to check out their link for more information
